I am a PhD student in the Sociology Department of the Lund University. My research project focuses on the experiences of migrants in Sweden in maintaining long-distance care relationships with their stay-behind elderly parents. I aim to examine the differences in the extent to which migrants are able to engage in various care practices, and how this depends on structural political, economic and globalisation factors. Additionally, my study aims to explore how social divisions of gender, class and ethnicity and their intersections inform these care relationships. Ukrainian migrants in Sweden form an empirical case for this study.
