Dr Dalmas Ochieng Omia is a Gender Expert and Research Fellow at the Institute of Anthropology, Gender and African Studies-University of Nairobi-Kenya. His recent works span the evaluation of social protection interventions through the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion lens across child-centred approaches and old age in the East and Horn of Africa. Dalmas’ research interest centres on the evaluation of the impact and designing of fit-to-context social protection policy designs for older persons and their implications for active ageing in Africa from a gender and intersectionality lens. He was previously a researcher and post-doc under the NOHRED- Water and Society (WaSo) and a research collaborator under the EU-Horizon, 2020 on Preparedness for Urban Vulnerability (PRUV) project. He has contributed to the gender and cultural dimensions of household water insecurity under the REACH project at the Kenya observatory.
Dalmas completed his Ph.D. in Social Anthropology from the University of Nairobi in 2015.
