Ruchira Sen is an Associate Professor at Jindal School of Journalism and Communication, O.P. Jindal Global University, India. Trained as an economist, Ruchira teaches Introductory Economics, Data Analysis for Storytelling, Research Methods in the Social Sciences and Gender and the Global Care Economy. Ruchira’s research is primarily on gender and the economy in India. She has published on dowry as a gift economy, gendered inequalities of self-care in India, and issues of gender and migration amongst Asian and Mexican immigrants in the USA. Ruchira has a PhD in Economics from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in the USA. Her dissertation examines the reproduction of the empire of capital through incursions of capitalist processes into non-capitalist processes from 1989 to 2018. Ruchira believes that economics is too important to be left to economists and is committed to interdisciplinary research and teaching.
