Gender in an Age of Global Care Crisis conference 2024

The Hub's Gender in an Age of Global Care Crisis Conference took place on 21st - 22nd March 2024.

The event was a huge success with speakers coming together from around the world including UK, Europe, Africa, America, Australia, East Asia and South Asia, and with many more colleagues joining us online.

Two Keynote speakers gave fascinating and thought-provoking talks. Professor Rhacel Salazar Parreñas talked on care and migration, and Professor Sharmila Rudrappa talked on care catastrophe and the environment.

Over one and a half days, eighteen further talks were shared. The panels covered the topics of: The Concept and Value of Care; Motherhood and Family; Time, Work, and Women’s Caregiving; Masculinity and Care; and Migration Care Practices. We enjoyed the lively discussions and learned much from each other.
