My research interests and contributions are trifold: (a) developing scientifically rigorous measures of multidimensional poverty that are applicable in low- and middle-income countries, (b) understanding the intersectionality between poverty and inequalities resulting from age, gender, ethnicity, geographic regions (urban/rural), climate change, livelihood and work conditions, and (c) finding the protective factors that can help vulnerable groups stay economically and mentally resilient.
My work in these fields receives funds from UKRI, ESRC, NERC and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). I utilise both quantitative and qualitative methods in my work.
