Collaborative Parenting Across Cultures

Speaker: Dr Muzhi Zhou

Chair: Dr Ekaterina Hertog

How couples work together to care for their children? Join us for an exciting discussion on the latest research findings from two East Asian countries and three Western countries. Our study examines the cross-spouse effect of time in child care and how this can explain the educational gap in childcare time.

By employing a cross-cultural design and a couple-level analysis of time-diary data, our study reiterate the significant role of differentiated gender roles in childrearing, but also underscore that the "intensive parenting" norm and the weekend model of "involved father" offer alternative explanations to how spouses interact with each other to look after their children. Don't miss this opportunity to gain valuable insights into collaborative parenting across cultures.
