Recruitment of Postdoctoral Fellow 

 

The Gender Research Centre at the Hong Kong Institute of Asia Pacific Studies are currently looking for a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow to join . This position is offered on a fixed-term basis for one year, starting in September 2024, with the potential for extension.

 

About Gender Research Centre 

The Gender Research Centre (GRC) is the first research unit on gender and women’s issues in Hong Kong. Beginning as the Gender Research Programme in 1985, GRC was renamed in 2000. Members include scholars from Social Science, Humanities, Medicine, Business Administration, and other interdisciplinary fields who are involved with the research activities of GRC [http://www.grc.cuhk.edu.hk/]. GRC is looking for a committed and motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the team.

 

About the Role

The selected candidate for this role will have the opportunity to contribute to various research projects and activities conducted by the Centre, with a specific focus on advancing knowledge and understanding of gender, sexual and/or intimate violence in cyberspace. You will actively assist in research projects using quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method approaches. You will also work closely with researchers in different places to develop and produce high-quality research papers, reports, news commentaries, and other scholarly outputs.

 

In addition, you will be responsible for managing research projects, which include tasks such as data collection and analysis. You will also play a key role in managing the Centre's websites and social media accounts, ensuring that engaging content is created to promote the Centre's research findings and activities. Furthermore, you will provide valuable administrative support to the Centre, which involves organizing events, workshops, and conferences, as well as assisting with grant applications and reporting.

 

About You

Applicants for this position should possess a PhD degree in Sociology, Gender Studies, Social Science, Humanities, or related disciplines, or be near completion of their PhD studies. They should demonstrate proficiency in quantitative and/or qualitative research methodologies, with a strong track record of conducting independent research. Advanced knowledge and research skills in statistical software such as SPSS and Stata, as well as competence in data analysis and interpretation, are essential.

 

Moreover, applicants should have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese. Strong organizational and communication skills are highly valued, along with the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
